Why do I do this?
SharePoint & CRM was created in February of 2015 with the aim of sharing my knowledge with Power Users, System Administrators and those who choose to (or are forced to) manage SharePoint, Dynamics CRM and related software.
My goal with this blog is to clearly describe common issues I’ve encountered in the past and how to get over them in a simple to understand, step-by-step process which I hope will help myself and others who have been in a similar position.
SharePoint & Dynamics may seem very distinct but they do in-fact share a lot of common elements, both are designed to do everything and neither does everything particularly well. But with the right knowledge and a bit of experience they will allow you to do almost anything your business requires.
With several years experience managing and developing on these platforms to business and user requirements, starting from not even knowing they existed, I feel like I’m in a unique position to understand and describe common issues myself and others have encountered.
A bit about me
My name’s Shaun Wilkinson and I’m a resident of the beautiful Isle of Skye on Scotlands west coast.
I’ve spent several years working with a healthcare technology company called Sitekit. Sitekit’s vision is a world where everyone lives longer, healthier, happier lives, assisted by secure, joined-up digital services. Which I feel aligns with my values and provides and extra incentive to work to the best of my ability.
I have primarily worked in a System Administrator role helping the business and users achieve their goals using a mixture of Microsoft products, with a specific focus on SharePoint & Dynamics CRM. However I’ve had the privilege to work on plenty of different projects including helping the business to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation, setting up a Quality Management System as part of the QMS team, assisting in the setup of a support desk using Kayako, performing a migration from CRM 2013 to Dynamics 365 among many other things.

Hello tendmex, I’d my more than happy to cover any topics however if this is about SharePoint then wherever possible I would suggest you avoid folders entirely and try to implement a metadata framework so that documents can be correctly tagged and viewed as required.

Hey tendmex, just so you know I’ve created a new article that’ll be published tomorrow morning about several reasons why you should avoid folders if possible. If you feel that you really need to use folders though I’d be happy to discuss it further with you.
